ABSTRACT
In Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET), users communicate by relaying in multihop. A multihop route breaks primarily because of the movement of relative nodes, burst error in wireless channels or hidden terminal collisions. To face the last two reasons for link failures, which can be defined as false route failure, we propose a delayed retransmission (DR) scheme for multihop communication in MANET, by which packets lost in MAC layer are retransmitted in network layer with a delay between two successive transmission. Furthermore, for enhancement of the retransmission efficiency, we also propose a delayed adaptive retransmission (DAR) scheme by giving different retransmission limit to the packets with different forwarded hops. We compare our scheme with previous MAC
layer retransmission and non-delayed network layer retransmission of TCP throughput, packet delivery ratio, peer-to-peer delay and ad hoc routing overhead. Numerical results show that our scheme can achieve much higher performance in multihop transmission.
