In<br \/>\nthis paper, we design policies which carry out the assignment<br \/>\nof tasks that are generated at the mobile subscribers with edge<br \/>\nclouds in an online fashion. The proposed policies achieve an<br \/>\noptimal power-delay trade-off in the system. Here, the delay<br \/>\nexperienced by a mobile computing task includes the time spent<br \/>\nwaiting for transmission to the edge cloud, and the execution<br \/>\ntime at the edge cloud servers. We perform a theoretical analysis<br \/>\nafter modeling the system as a continuous-time queueing system.<br \/>\nThe contribution of this paper is two-fold: Firstly, the algorithm<br \/>\nto determine the optimal policy is obtained by proposing an<br \/>\nequivalent discrete-time Markov decision process. Secondly, an<br \/>\neasily implementable index policy is proposed by analyzing the<br \/>\ndual of the original problem.
